Career: Stay ahead in the queue

Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life. - Confucius
Most of us spend approximately half of our life in our office cabin doing some kind of job we never wanted to work. It’s not just the kind of job you are doing it’s also about the salary and other perks you are getting and we cannot deny the fact that the benefits we get motivate us to take our job seriously and do it happily or else we simply take our job as a headache. If the company we are working in is not promoting us then this leads to frustrations and we simply can’t do anything more productive at our workplace and we become more or less sick of our job and we think switching the job will help us to get motivated again. The common mindset is that switching a company may help you find happiness and you will start loving your work in a new environment and a new workplace. Some people also complaints about the harsh policies and the internal politics of the company so they want to get away from such a place where they don’t find themselves suitable. If you are a student and not fortunate enough to get into big colleges then after your studies you want to join any company with any pay scale and since your college doesn’t have good options you go with any company and work below your ability and are underpaid. If you can relate yourself with any of these above categories then please go through this blog and likely it will help you in choosing a suitable job.
There are various companies out there who love you for what you are and want you to do what you love doing. For example, my friend loves criticizing and reviewing stuff then there are various jobs he can do that incorporates certain kind of review and critics, although he is from IT background the fact that the world is open to everybody is true here and if you search wisely then probably you will reach your destination.
The technology has brought us a lot closer than we actually think and if we wisely use it then we can set ourselves the right path. A survey conducted by a Forbes says that if you love your work and your workplace loves you back then the probability of you getting promoted and staying on top is a lot higher. Along with a nice job you will also get an improved lifestyle and sense of freedom.
So finally coming to the question, how do we find a suitable job. I am listing out multiple platforms where you can search a nice job for yourself with almost any skill sets and requirements.
Great if you have heard about LinkedIn before and if you haven’t heard of it then let me start with its introduction “It’s a platform where most of the companies from all over the world post their job vacancy and you can apply right away if you have a matching skill or if you think you fit to the requirement”. It is quite famous among the Employees, Venture Capitalists, Business People, Artists, Bloggers, Travelers, Accountants, etc… the list will go on. If you have heard of a job on this planet then you are most likely to find it here. The LinkedIn company itself keeps you motivated by sending you resources so that you can look ahead and find yourself a nice job. You can filter the kind of job you want to do or a company you want to work for and set an alert with those filters. The company will mail you periodically based on your alert. There are various tools available on the website to polish your resume/CV.
If you are an entrepreneur then you can find many Venture Capitalists here and can get connected to them and send them your pitch. If you love painting then you will find a community or a person whom you can get connected to. You can follow companies you are interested in and be updated with their updates. In short, you can say that it has at least something for everybody. You get all these without any charge. Obviously, they have a premium plan with some more premium features like “In-mail” and you can try the premium plan for one month for free and if you are satisfied with the service then you can pay further or you can use the free service forever. And this company is backed by Microsoft so you can trust the name anyways.
Cons:
I can hardly find out any cons of this platform but I am always open to your opinions and views.
It was launched back in the year 2017 and is available in most of the countries and it also serves the same purpose of getting you to the right job. You can simply search “Google for jobs” in your search engine(Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go, etc) and you will see the website. You don’t need to do any formalities like uploading your CV and stuff, you can directly start searching the kind of job you want to go for. It has some nice job filters which give you lots of options to choose from and then it shows you the related jobs in a particular geographical area and work domain you are interested in. If you have a registered Google account then you can turn on the notification for these jobs for future openings and then you will get periodic notifications. You can make many alerts simultaneously so you can look for the different industries at the same time. Like, if you love Accounting and teaching then you can start alert for both of these jobs. This is backed by the tech giant Google so you can trust this website for information.
Cons:
This website has lot’s of SME’s (Small Medium Business) on it so the reviews about those companies are seldom available and it’s really hard to find out more about many of those companies because some of them are very new and are not well established, but if you think you can work in any new organization to build them up then you are most welcome.
It’s a website where the company posts their vacancy just like others but the uniqueness of this platform is that the employees are quite well connected to this platform. Along with finding your dream job, you can see salaries, reviews, ratings, benefits, etc. about a company which helps you decide which company to choose based on the perks and other benefits. On top of this, it’s all free. You just have to enter your job profile and a few other details about your former or current job while signing up and then you are all set to go. You can possibly find all your questions about a company you wish for. The company exists from the year 2007 so you can definitely trust this platform for transparency. The company has a strong policy and guideline which helps users to trust the information.
Cons:
You won’t find lots of openings here but you will definitely find information here.
4. Indeed
This platform is again a great resource. We can call it as a search engine for Jobs. The website was founded in the year 2004 and since then it has successfully placed lots of employees. The job opening here ranges from the lowest pay scale to the highest scale. And yes this website is free of cost. You can upload your resume/CV here and then you will get periodical emails regarding your matching jobs.
Cons:
Since the search company shows you lot’s of openings many of which you may find irrelevant to your skill, so I think the company should improve its filter option.
If you are from a computer science or IT background then you probably know about this website or have heard about it somewhere. But if you are not aware of this website then here’s a statement for you “this website heaven for any IT background student or professional”. If you have any doubts or any errors in your software or programming concept then you are most likely to find your answers here and even if you don’t get the answer you can post your question and hopefully you will get the answer very quickly. Almost all the professionals and students around the world use this to solve their programming problems. You can also contribute to this platform by answering the question which matches your skillset. If you want to contribute to the coding community then you are most welcome here, you can answer questions and contribute to the community. Along with this wonderful community it also contains jobs listing only for programmers and people with IT background. Companies around glob post their jobs here and you can apply to their jobs right away without any hassles. Everything you get here is free of cost so you can apply to as many companies you want or you can ask as many questions as you want.
Cons:
Unfortunately, this website is limited only to programmers so people with other skill sets cannot use it but anyway if you want to know about programming then you can come here.

There are other websites that serves you the same purpose, but I have not mentioned their details because the functions and processes are almost same so you can go and check out them and you will find them relevant. The list is as follows:
1. Naukri
2. Shine
The above list contains platforms where you can apply for jobs and I assure you that you will find your job from using the above website list. But I have seen one common trait among people that they eventually find many people following the flow and they fall for that trap and start following the same flow and become one of them. Is this what they want to do is no more the question and they start feeling burdened. So the solution for this issue lies in the preparation, motivation and mindset.
Be Prepared.
Be Motivated.
Be Optimistic.
Believe in yourself.
And you will definitely find your way to top.

Now if you are not finding your work interesting and you wish to switch the industry. For example, if you are an Accountant and you want to know about programming world and try out programming as your career and you probably have minimal or no prior knowledge about programming or respective industry then the question arises is:
how can you make yourself relevant to that industry?
how can you take your skill to match that level?
